Question About Causes of IC flares

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has a flare from allergic reactions? Also, I heard that you can get a flare from using clear nail polish, and cleaning products. Has anyone heard of/ experienced this? Thanks, Michelle

I've never heard that you can get flares from clear nail polish and cleaning products. I haven't noticed this at all. Far as allergic reactions I'm not really sure. I'm sure that it is possible. I remember before I had my cysto/hydro my uro told me that if you outside body was sensitive that your inside was probably sensitive as well. I know that my uro put me on singular a medicine for allergies. She said that one theory for IC was that people have food allergies. Chelsey

It's probably due to the Multiple Chemical Sensitivities that some people have. Part of the allergic response. Fortunately, I am not that sensitive although there are a bunch of things, like perfumes, some cleaners and shower soap, that give me hives or make my asthma worse. Linda

Brat, I quit months ago, where you been lol!!!! I have read somewhere on here that someone had a reaction to a chemical in a lab class (sorry if I have the class wrong). I changed from Ivory soap to a lanolin/peppermint soap because Ivory was causing me some irritation but wouldnt bother my bladder.
This is only a guess, but I am guessing if it can get into your skin it could irritate because its going through your body. Again I am guessing. Worth researching tho!
