View Full Version : Pressure bearing down?
Is a feeling of pressure bearing down a symptom of IC? Not a feeling of having urgency to urinate. I've never had a baby, but maybe it is like that? Although I don't feel like I have to rush to the bathroom to pee, I may still go because sitting there relieves the pressure temorarily. It happens most when I feel anxious/panic or restless, but can happen at other times too.

I have had that same feeling in the pass and still do sometimes but the good thing about having a baby is you get a sweet little baby at the end adn the pain don't come back.
you may have ate something that didn't agree with your bladder try a tums or baking soda and water mixer to see if that helps sometimes a heating pad or ice is helpful too.
hope you feel better soon
sending you hugs and prayers

I have had that feeling frequently throughout my life. I have had three children and the pain you are describing has really made me feel like i am having number 4. It is really bad sometimes. I hope that you are feeling better soon.
Thank you,
Kirsten
If you mean spasms (at least I think of them as spasms, but they are like labor), yes, I have had those, mine usually involve pain and I make the trip to the bathroom in hopes that it will stop after that. Of course, most of the time it doesn't. It has to run its course. Luckily, it is infrequent. I hope you feel better soon!!

Oh My God! I have described IC to my doctor on countless times as feeling like I have a baby's head crowning in my vagina. I tell everyone that when I am trying to explain it. I absolutely feel this. I feel like I want to bear down and push. Matter of fact, it was so bad, I was convinced that my bladder was coming out, but my doctor told me I do not have a prolapse. You are not alone. I feel this a lot, especially after I urniate.

Hello All
That's what I described my pressure pain as when I saw doctors. Just like I was about to deliver my baby. I was sure I had a prolapsed uteris, or bladder, or something. I even went to my gyno a couple of days before my hydro diagnosis, because I wanted to make sure, just incase it was a prolapsed something or other.
Anyhow, I now wear a fentanyl patch 24/7, which has been a life saver. I tried to go off it over the weekend, because I thought...maybe...the pain was gone somehow. Hah! I'm back on today. The patch is good for 3 days, and then it tapers off. By Monday, day 5, I was done it. It all came back, gradually, but there it was again. After a bare minimum night sleep last night, I'm back on the patch, along with percoset till it kicks in. I'm also going for weekly DMS) cocktails, taking Atarax, and I got a shot last week at pain clinic, pudendal nerve block.
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, I have been having a lot of pain and pressure were i can't walk. I hurt alot also in my goin area, it also moves up into my bladder also. It has been so painfull and it is making it hard to get around and working with it is so very hard. My doctor put me on some pain meds and told me i will have to see a pain mangement doctor. So i will be doing this soon. Please help let me know if any one else has this same problem.
Thank you all
Hope everyone has a pain free day!
Shirley
I had the same pain just last week. It lasted for about 6 - 7 days. I have had one child and it did feel like "bearing down". It was terrible, I thought I had a UTI and ended up at the Dr's 3 times that week. I had trouble walking and sitting was very painful as it got worse when I sat down. I stood up for about 3 hours and that was marginally better.
Might have to invest in a donut cushion or something.

Right around my period and ovulation is when that kicks in for me, I get terrible pressure/pain in my vulvar area, it will just throb and ache, making it horrible to try to walk. I really hate that. But, I did find that actually getting up (even though that is the last thing I want to do!) helped the pain and pressure...go figure. It is so miserable though! (especially when the bottoms of my feet get in on the act with it! --two places it's no fun to have hurting!)
