Hi
I was wondering if ellipticak machines are IC safe. I think they would be since you are pressing down or sitting on a bike seat, You kind of glide in away, anyone out there use these with no problems-JOJO

Yes, I could use one, & it was a good workout. I was surprised though that I couldn't use treadmill (too jarring!)

Doesn't cause a flare in me either, one of the few exercises I can really do.

Blessings, Lori

It is so much easier to use for me then the tred mill. It is not a big bounce like the tred mill and easier on the ankles and calves also

I love elliptical machines. I should get back to the gym and start working out. I feel like I get a really good workout with the elliptical machines. Chelsey

It works for me and I think it is easier on the joints. I love mine. I try to use it every day!

Today was my second visit to the gym! (:woohoo:) I tried the elliptical trainer for 15 minutes & the rowing machine for 5 minutes. LOVED the rowing machine, it was easier on the bladder & I felt like I was really doing something good. Could have gone on longer, but thought about how long it's been since I worked out & decided to see how I feel tomorrow am!

Hope you find things you like & that work for you!

:woohoo: go kadi go kadi, doesn't it feel good to work out? I have a hard time starting the work out but once I get going I love it and always feel so good health wise when I am done. Glad to see that you have found something that is easy and that you liked.

I just read another thread about someone having a flare with an elliptical and find myself frozen in indecision. I want to buy one, but what if??? Then I thought, would a Tony Little Gazelle be even more gentle?

Someone reaassure me to take the plunge or something. I work from home and would never make it to the gym, I can be honest about this. I used to ride my exercise bike all the time and do Richard Simmons several days a week. I just feel so lost and now that I am eating healthy again, want to find an exercise I can stand besides walking around the block. I'm in FL and it just gets too hot!

Laura, I began to have problems with my hips hurting with the ellyptical so I found that I wasn't using like I wanted to. It is down in our basement room now and the other people in my family use it. I want a treadmill now......I use them when I am traveling in the hotels........that and the recumbant bikes.

You can use a treadmill? Lucky you! It gives me such a flare. I am going to test out ellipticals this weekend at Dick's Sporting Goods. I figure I am only good cardio-wise for 2-minutes at a time, so we shall see. I said to my husband, "If I can do 2 minutes five times a day without a flare, it is a huge improvement over everything I have tried yet except boring walking!"

Thanks!

Yes, I guess I can do a treadmill, but I don't make it a high incline or anything. Mostly, I am afraid to go out on my own when I travel so I stick in my hotel room when I am done with meetings. The treadmills are my company when I watch stupid TV at night.

In a funny way, I like traveling. I don't have to worry about another body in bed with me bumping me or waking me with his movements right after I finally fall asleep...............and it is peaceful................quiet...........and I don't have to make excuses to anyone if I need to get into my jammies at 6 pm............I don't want to travel all the time, but it gives me a strange sort of rest........does that make sense?

Am I going to see you in July when I come back to FL, Laura??? XOXOX J

Hi Laura:

I asked my physical therapist before I bought my elliptical, which one she recommended. She said to buy one that did not have arm pulls. She said they tend to make your body go out of alignment, which can cause pain in your hips, back, etc. and may cause IC symptoms to flare. I bought a Precor and have been very happy with it! I'm sure that it would work much better if I used it more often.

I hope that it works for you!

Best wishes, ICB :flower:

Thanks, ICB. I actually went to Dick's Sporting Goods today and tried out two of their Horizon elliptical machines. I spent three minutes on it (my max after no cardio in about two years) and did not have a flare!

I figure if I can do two minutes, 3-4 times a day I will be good as a start.

Thanks for the tip about the handles. The one I am buying has both so I can 'try' it and avoid it if necessary. I knew I did not want one with only the pulls because your arms get so tired (I had an exercise bike with the moving arms and remember). :-)

Laura, that's wonderful :woohoo: !!! You've encouraged me to be more consistent with my workouts.

Best of luck, ICB :flower:
