Has anyone tried Pilates? I went to a class this evening, and I thought some of the exercises were a little too challenging for my bladder. (lots of stretching and tightening different muscle groups) I'm not sure if this is O.K. for the bladder or not. Any input? Thanks, liz

I'm not sure either. I would think that pilates and yoga would be very good. Next time you go just do what you can do. If it hurts then you should take it easier. You might also ask your uro about doing pilates. Chelsey

My uro advised against Pilates because of the emphasis on abdominal exercises. He said yoga was ok for me as long as I avoided pelvic floor work & didn't focus on lower abs. I've really enjoyed my yoga classes & just stop if an exercise bothers me.

I have done Pilates without any problems. You may just want to start out slow to see if it effects you. On a similiar note. A few weeks ago at the gym I used the inner and outer thigh machines at a higher weight than I was used to. It caused spasms that lasted for a couple of days. I waited a week and lowered the weights and tried again with success :)

I do pilates every week but my IC is under control. I imagine it would have been painful if I had tried it when IC was bad. It is an excellent way to keep in shape.
