Hello,

I just found your site last nite and have learned so much! Thanks to all of you for sharing your stories...I have not at a bad flare for several years but
now have been in constant pain for a month or so...I have been a IC sufferer
for years before I had the surgery procedure to burn out the lining of my bladder..Did not help immediately but after a while I have been symtom free
for about 5 years..I have no idea what has caused this to return...but I am
so ready for it to go away!!

My gyno has been giving me Elmiron instilations twice a week for three weeks
and it has not helped...I would really appeciate any input from you guys...
Any of you tired this!! And how long did it take to work...I found it very interesting that may of you also suffer from IBS.(as I do too!) Also my Dr.
has not offered anything for pain...Is there something I could take that would
take the edge off and still allow me to function at work?

Thanks,
LaLa

Hi LaLa and welcome,
Have you checked out the handbook http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/ there is alot of information in it. There are pain meds available and everyone is different. I would talk to your doctor about your pain and let them how your feeling.
I do heparin instills and alternate with elmiron instills I just started the elmiron ones so have not noticed anything yet. Good luck and glad you found us,
huggs,
Kelly

sorry you are flaring....

did you have the bcg procedure? it is used for bladder cancer, right?

they(the instillation) burn(s) the bladder lining and then the bladder lining (cells) think it needs to grow a new lining, right?!

:hmm:

Welcome, glad you found us!!! I'd never heard of that treatment either. There is so much to learn! The thought of 5 symptom free years sounds like heaven. Hopefully, you will find information here that will help you regain that state.

There are medications for the pain, it may take some experimenting through your doctor to find one right for you. Many of the pain medications are discussed through the boards here.
