I'm having HORRIBLE insomnia!!! I've had maybe 10 hours of sleep in the past two days, and I'm a grouch if I don't get my 8 hours. At first I was just getting up more often, and then I was getting up and I couldn't go back to sleep. I got a lot of housework done in the wee hours of the morning, though :). I'm not sure what the doc is going to do now, whether he'll try something similar or go ahead with IC-type meds.

Wow Laura, I've never heard of that particular side effect of Detrol before. Thank you for posting that. I hope your insomnia improves!

Be sure to talk to your doctor about this. Insomnia is not listed as a side effect for Detrol --- are you taking any other medications, including over the counter or herbals?

Donna, it is listed as a side affect that some people reported on www.detrolla.com:
"What other side effects have been reported?
The following events were reported by at least 1% of patients treated with DETROL LA for 12 weeks but may or may not have been caused by DETROL LA: fatigue, dizziness, dyspepsia (indigestion), xerophthalmia (dry eyes), abnormal vision, somnolence (sleepiness), anxiety, sinusitis, and dysuria (painful urination)."
My doc said it could be causing my problem even though it wasn't listed on the literature, and the only other thing I'm taking is Allegra (which I've been on for years with no problems). I stopped the Detrol on Thursday and slept like a baby last night, so I'm sure it was the cause. I'm calling my doctor on Monday and we'll see where we're going to go from here . . . I don't know if he'll want to try something else like Detrol or if he'll start me on more IC-specific meds/treatments.
Thanks for the kind thoughts all :).

If it's any help, I had horrible insomnia for the first week on Detrol, then it went away & I've been on it successfully for years. Not fun, but worth it, in my case.
