I have been having very bad left sided pain in the lower pelvic region for over a year now. It comes a week before and stays throughout the cycle. Anyways I am being treated for the IC and Ulcerative Colitis that can cause pain in that area and it seems like it is under control in that area. I have very very heavy periods, and mood swings. I have night sweats too. But I have a lot of other conditions that make it difficult to diagnose. Anyways the area down there has turned purplish brown and has been that way for weeks now. The reg doc thought it wasveins, or a hemmoage? I am also very swollen down there. Does anyone have this? It is not a STD. I was checked before and even with every pregnancy (protocol) and have been with my hubby for 9 years. Anyways it looks like a huge bruise. Can anyone else relate? If so please help me understand this? I have a gyno app. 10-13. I would appricaite any advice or insight. Thanks and take care - Chris
Could it be endometriosis? You might want look at this site www.pelvicpain.com. I was diagnosised with IC, but the doctors missed endo until I demanded a lap to search for it. There is a good article on IC and endo
www.pelvicpain.org/resources/theeviltwins.ppt It is called "The Evil Twins" By Midwest Regional Center for Chronic Pelvic Pain *Maurice K. Chung RPh. MD. FACOG. ACGE. Charles E. Jennings MD. FACS. Best wishes on finding an answer,

Hi, I too have very heavy (and very irregular) periods, I get pain but it's in my right side not left like yours. My friend who has PCOS says she gets this too..but then I also know lots of other IC'ers who get this too. While I'm not saying PCOS or ENDO could be the cause, it could also just be that your hormones affect your IC quite badly, I know lots of IC'ers get worse around their time of the month so this could be the case for us too. Although I don't have the bruising. I think if I were you I'd keep bugging your Doc to death until you get to the bottom of this because you sound very worried about it and that is never a good thing to go with IC! <3

Hi Chris...I've been wondering how you were doing! You know I told you before that it sounded like you have endometriosis. I NEVER had the bruising/swelling symptom and I had it for many years before I had the hysterectomy. I've never heard of anyone having it either. Call your dr's office TODAY and tell his/her nurse that you have that and see it they can fit you in on an emergency basis...that does not sound good. Let us know.
Hugs,
Diane

Hi Chris, Im new to this site, but I have endo and I had severe pain on my left side. It was so bad that I would get up and fall down because it was so intense. I had a laprascopy this summer and they confirmed the endo and blasted it as best they could. I had some on the muscle tissue that was connected to my leg, so if you have any pain when you walk or step down that could be why. I would definately ask about a lap, they are not the most fun surgery and recovery is longer than they tell you, took me 5 weeks to get jeans on again, but it is def worth it. and be sure to take vitamins and eat meat to get iron. My periods got so heavy that i was anemic, so get tested for that too. Its no fun getting off the treadmill to lay down on the floor so you dont pass out!! and ask about taking tylenol with codeine for the pain until they can do surgery. it has just enough kick to help you sleep but u wont get addicted or anything like that. they told me left side is either bowel or endo, and it sounds like you might have endo, so def check that out!! soon cause it gets worse and it is no fun at all.
Good Luck!!!!

Chris, I am here with a UTI and IC acting up. I was feeling that things are kind of hopeless because antibiotics cure the UTI but hurt IC. Then I saw the verse of Scripture you quoted: Isaiah 40:31 Thank you so much for this!

Well I don't have any good news to report. I'm really upset because yet again another doctor has blown me off. He acquated my pain to emotional problems and told me to loose some weight and to get more therapy. It was humiliating. If I would have listened to the other doctors I would have never recieved help for the arthritis and such. Not only that but the Celbrex I started I had a bad reaction to and had to stop it. My hands, feet, and face stared swelling up horribly. Anyways I am sick again right now and discouraged. I guess I will have to find another doctor. He didn't even comment on the swelling or discoloration after I asked him about it. He siad I am emotionally and hormonally imbalanced. He couldn't do anything for me and he woulodn't perscribe me any more pain pills because my chart said I am aleady on so many. I told him I didn't come there for pills I'm already on too many. I just don't know what it is about me that says hey pick on me, demoralize me, degrade me, treat me like an addict, what is it? Oh well sorry I just ned to get it off my chest. Thanks for the genuine concern. I appriciate it. I'm so glad you all are here to talk too. Thanks gals. Well better luck next time for me : ( Take care and God Bless you all - Christina

What a horrible way for the dr. to treat you. I wish I had something magical to say that would make you feel better. All I can tell you is that you deserve better treatment from the medical community. You deserve it not because of your illnesses, but because you are YOU. A human being. I hope that you are able to find a new dr. that will at least give you the attention you are entitled to and deserve.

Oh my friend, I am so sorry for what you are going through. I hope you can find the strength to find a new doctor so someone can help you. It is amazing to me that a doctor can treat you this way and be so dismissive of your symptoms. I have to believe that is because of there own inablilities, that they would rather act as if your symptoms are not real then actually have to admit that they may not know enough to beable to treat you. A sign of a good doctor is not only there abilities to treat their patients but also to admit when they can't and have the good sense to refer you to someone who can. You are in my thoughts and prayers! Maybe the uro you saw in Maryland can recommend someone for you. Call me if you need to. I will keep in touch.
Lots of Love,
Jamie

Oh, I'm so sorry that doctor treated you that way. I'm furious because it seems to me that a laproscopic surgery to look inside is very much in order.
As I read your earlier post, I was thinking - endometriosis! For sure! And I see that others here suspect that as well.
I had endometriosis around my belly button and I got that horrible bruising and pain you describe after each period. It went away when they went in and scooped out a bunch of the endometriosis.
Surely your doctor doesn't think your bruising is something your emotions are doing, does he? What a terrible doctor. Can you go to a different doctor? I hope so because I think that doctor needs to be reported to the medical authorities for how he treated you.
I hope you will be feeling better soon and will be able to find a doc who will be willing to do an exploratory surgery because I'm so certain that you have some endometriosis given your symptom description.
I have endometriosis too - turns out it must be on my bladder and other places because I'm on Lupron now and all of a sudden all these aches and pains I attributed to old age and IC are gone, vanished...like magic.

Blessings, Lori

Thank you all so much for your support and encouragement. I am going to take a little break right now. I don't feel up to even looking for another doctor right now. I had to battle to get this far and I'm tired. I need to recooperate and really just out it aside for a moment because it is too much for mew to handle right now. I feel like I must be comming off the wrong way because why else would I have this happen over and over again? I wish I cared enough about myself to gain the type of confidence I need to step up and defend myself when things like this happen. What do I have victom written on my face? I know and I'm not giving the best example. I will perservere through my faith in God. I hope you all know that even if I get discouraged I have hope. Please keep your heads up know that even if sometimes people can't see you for who you are you all are beautiful on the inside and outside. Thank you all for your kind words and for the time you take to be there and to encourage me and other people. You are all so special and God loves each and every one of you. Even if I feel defeated sometimes I want you to know that I am not. I won't let this break me. We are all so much stronger than we think. Keep that in mind when hard times come we can soar above it. Take care and God bless you and pray His hedge of protection over you all. Thank you so much you never know when or how something you say will impact someone so greatly. I am amazed by you all and grateful to have met you all. - Christina
