and start the medications, do they do follow up checkups (cystos?) to see if your bladder is healing or do they only go by symptoms? I don't have nasty symptoms except when it flares up, but the doctor said that if the hydrocysto is positive for IC, the inflammation warrants starting Elmiron regardless of my symptoms to prevent it from getting bad. How would I know (he know) if it was working? :hmm:

I know I had read here that a regular cysto wouldn't show IC, but I know mine did show hunners cysts and lots of pin point hemorrages and signs of long term inflammation, so I guess some do?

Also, is a spastic, inflamed urethra part of IC, or something separate?

I'm trying to prepare myself with questions for when I see the doctor next.

I haven't had follow up testing to look at my bladder, but I have heard some people say they have. My doc and I go based on my symptoms.

I would think it makes sense to go by symptoms, at least I hope my uro does. I would not relish the thought of another hydro, general or not. It put me into 24/7 pain for 3 weeks. I couldn't do anything without pain and no pain meds helped. Sounds like torture to me. Linda

My doctor/uro asks how I am doing and goes on that information for my treatments
Take care,
