I have no idea where else to post this. i just had this done. it is done while you are asleep, the inject 'stuff' (so technical I know) into the spine that is supposed to block the nerves, in this case, the pelvic and bladder nerves. the procudre seemed easy for me. I am having a great deal of pain from the injection (to be expected, using pain meds to make it bareable), it should only last a few days) but my bladder is great NO PAIN. I still burn when i pee, but insisdently i am not feeling any urgency either! I am set to have 3 more the week of the 19th. I am posting because no one seems to have heard of this for IC. My pain MD explained it this way to me. I have chronic and constant pain. My bladder and low back pain, related to IC is escalating and not responding to pain meds. I have tried and cannot use other methods (Elavil, trycylics and general and ssri's like PAxil, Elmiron and instillations are not possible either) so this is a viable option. my understanding is that the nerves themselves may be damaged at this point making a treatment that deals with the nerves better that one that may only deal with the physical bladder. the block is used most often for the treatment of cancer pain. I hope this is the thing for me. Has anyone heard of this? Had it done?
I am also on neurontin, seems to help a lot at night.
