helloo..still in this flare, peeing like every 15 - 20 minutes, since monday night, after taking that baking soda bath....urethra is on fire! lol...i am beginning to think maybe it is the nortriptyline? (started a week ago)i really have no idea..and i wonder when its going to stop or if its just gonna get worse...hehe... :-S also, when i do pee its hard to empty my bladder...maybe thats why i have to pee so much?..sorry im rambling :-S hehe..thanks...to anyone who read this ;) i also considering to go to docs to check if i have a uti..but havent had once of those since it started, in 2001....

Are you saying the symptoms got worse after the bath? If so, definitely be checked for infection --- also, there are some skin conditions that are made worse by soda or anything alkaline on the skin --- eczema is one.

I hope you feel better soon.

Oh my, I am sorry still flaring. I agree with Donna....baths are a common started for infection!!!!! I hope you can figure out an end to your flare soon! If you find you are difficulty emptying your bladder....after you go try to relax and sit there as relaxed as you can and see if that helps. I know when I flare I can be the same way...I don't hold much left...but enough to bother me. Get better soon!

It's very rare that an IC patient gets worse on a medicine designed to help IC rather than better, but not unheard of. (Although many doctors have not heard of it unfortunately.) If you look closely enough through the message boards you will see that a few of us have had the problem of a tricyclic making us worse instead of better, because of irritation to our bladders or something.

I had to discontinue Elavil because of this, and Pamelor did the same thing to me so apparently for me, all tricyclics make my bladder worse instead of better.

I hope that is not what is happening in your case, but I wanted to say that it seems like a possibility.
