Hey there everyone.. :) I have done a lot of research about using herbal remedies for IC, and vulvar conditions, and have used some herbs, but i am just wondering has anyone out there tried the one called Bladder Q? I found it one day while researching, it had some pretty good back up studies, even tho i was in two minds about it, eg is this another scam? But i decided to give it ago, you take 4 tablets a day, 1000mg Quercetin (which is meant to be good for the pelvic pain i have) and a few other things such as valerian for anti spasmodic. SO yeah just wondering has anyone had any luck with this one or tried using Quercetin? Thank you for reading this...Bless you all! :grouphug:

Hi, Lady Tamara, there is actually some research that shows that about 66% of IC'ers and chronic non-bacterial prostatitis patients get better using Quercetin. I think that's why on this site, Quercetin in various formulations is for sale, because it has been shown to be effective in many, many cases.
Unfortunately, it seems no one medicine is 100% effective for all IC'ers, but I would say it's absolutely a good idea to try the Quercetin. You may find a good deal on it with the ICN store, they have good products and ship quickly.
Blessings, Lori

yes, i take quercetin/bromelain. the bromelain helps the body break down the quercetin so you can get its ani-inflammation affects. i bought some cystaq from the icn store. i am taking freeze-dried aloe vera capsules from desertharvest.com. you can also buy them from http://www.ic-network.com/shop/
i still have some quercetin/bromelain from a local pharmacy.
i understand it takes a while to feel the full effect, just like elmiron.
it has to be in the body for a good period of time.
elmiron gives me a claw-like headache. it was bad.....
the uro okayed my aloe vera...
he even wrote me a letter, which i sent to my husband's insurance company to get reimbursed on payflex. payflex = monies used for healthcare, with no taxes being taken.
hope my information helps you!
i am off to jump into the shower. my appointment for xylocaine, heparin, and sodium bicarb is soon. :dizzy:
good luck!!

Hi Tamara,
How are you, hon? :)
Wow, where do you get quercetin/bromelain from in Australia? Is it available from normal health food shops or via a naturopath? And what are the brand names? I am so keen to not go on any more medications after a MAMMOTH flare (5 & 1/2 weeks) thanks to an anti-inflammatory I didn't tolerate very well, and I'm feeling suss about trying anything else 'medical' because of all the mixed results I read on these boards. I'm more keen to try something natural as I always seem to have better results with natural stuff (I take Evening Primrose Oil for my skin, IBS and it helps with period pain, have 101 aromatherapy cures for everything, and *love* my Rescue Remedy when I can't sleep....).
I always read stuff on these boards about all sorts of remedies and just think 'oh it won't be available here in Australia' and then get a pleasant surprise when someone tells me it is! :woohoo:
Hope you're well, hope to chat soon! :flower:

I meant to add to my last post... I have the strangest reaction to Valerian - makes my heart beat really fast for about a minute about 2 hours after I take it (and then doesn't work anyway, but few herbal or medicinal sleep rememdies do for me....)

HI Shenna,
Thanks for your post! I have looked at all of these products in the ICN shop - just trying to find out if I can get them closer to home to save waiting for them to shipp, and to keep costs down (it would cost me more to buy it in US $ than Australian $, with the postage and exhange rate etc). If I can't find it in Aust, though, will definitely get it through the ICN shop!
Cheers,
Kirsten :)

Hi Tamara,
I've looked on the Net and I'm now pretty sure the only place you can get BladderQ, CystaQ, Algonot is through the US. Quercetin is available here in Australia but not as a specific bladder formulation - it seems to be marketed for asthma or something like that! At least I know I can get it from the US by ordering online, though, so if I decide to go for it I'll shop around for a good price that won't break the bank first!!!
So typical, Australia has nothing for bladder conditions. I'm desperately awaiting something like Prelief being available here one day, so I can have fruit juice, pineapple, ginger and multi-vitamins again, amongst other things. One day!!!!!!!!! :)
Let me know how you go with the BladderQ. I'm sorry you didn't have any luck with the Nortriptyline - it's a wonder we ever find anything to help this IC, we're all so different. You're so right about trial and error!!!
Have a great weekend, babe, speak to you soon,
Kirsten :flower:

Lady Tamara,
I tried Bladder Q but found no relief. Then, I tried Cysta Q and was very hopeful since I stopped having urethra pain for 2 months, then my pain started again even though I have continued use. I don't know what to do now. I just had my second heparin instill. So maybe, the stuff works at first, then your body gets used to it and may need more to get the same relief.

Kirsten, I feel your pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Doesn't it suck how backwards Australia is when it comes to meds???? :shake:
What is in this BladderQ stuff? Can anybody give us the run down on the ingredients so we can see if somebody can make it up over here???
Thanks all,
Sara
