My husband and I have been trying for several months now. It seems like we never had a problem until after I got on all these medications. Now everything is SUPER dry. (Sorry about the tmi)

I was curious if any of you know if this is a side effect of the meds I'm on and maybe which one, here is the list of the meds

Hydroxyzine
Elavil
Elmiron
Pyridium
Urised
Percocet
Prelief

I think that's it. I know that I can use lube, but that seriously hasn't been working lately, it's just been impossible it seems, so I was going to see if anyone knew of any of these having that kind of side effect and maybe eliminating that for a few days when we are trying.

I don't have an appt. with the uro for a while, but I feel sooooooo embarassed asking him because he is one hot dr.!! And it's hard to bring up sex with him.

Thanks again, you guys are so great. :)

It's not unusual for an IC patient to need extra lubricant. There are several on the market and you may need to try until you find one that works well.

Good luck!

Hey Mindy, just wanted to wish you and hubby good luck and don't get to frustrated it will probally happen the month you really don't try. My uro also suggested a lubricate. I got one and it burned so bad that I haven't bought another to try. I figure it hurts without it and it hurts with one so might as well go with out the lubricate for now. Then somethimes I feel like totally going w/o sex :(
Take care,

Hi Mindy,

First, congrats on TTC.

Second, Please check out my new Preg journal about Considering Preg
http://www.ic-network.com/pregnancyjournal/

A quote from my journal
"Lubrication. Some lubricants have been proven to kill sperm, including KY Jelly. Granted, you wouldn't want to rely on them as a contraceptive, but they could hinder your ability to conceive. There is some debate about whether or not Astroglide is sperm friendly. There is a product on the market called Pre-Seed that is recommended for TTC, but there are mixed reviews and it is quite pricey and difficult to find.
Egg white is recommended because it is most like our natural cervical fluid that's present just before ovulation. Yes, plain old egg white, although you might want to look for pasteurized eggs which are available in most grocery stores these days. Simply separate the egg and discard the yolk. It helps to allow it to warm up to room temperature. You can use a small syringe (no needle) to insert it in the vagina. Many women, who struggle with fertility or simply don't produce enough quality cervical fluid, highly recommend using egg white. And let's face it, lube is usually necessary with IC."

Third, Please talk to all your Drs (Uro, OB/GYN, etc) about which meds you should consider stopping before TTC. It may be advisable to go off some of the meds before TTC. Some you can probably stop once you know your Pregnant. Other meds you may be able to continue. It's crucial to discuss this with your Drs. Warning: You may get different advise from each Dr. Weigh your options carefully with your hubby.

Best wishes and have fun babymaking!
