I am asking this with the following in mind. I know people's experiences etc. are not a subsitute for medical advice and am only wanting to know if anyone has had this happen. A doctor prescribes Klonopin and Xanex for anxiety (this is my case). I brought the Klonopin down to 1mg plus 3/4 mg a day now and Xanex I take .5 mg before bedtime. I noticed a tendency for the Klonopin to not work for anxiety as well as it used to. I raised the dose in the past and then cut back again as I saw a pattern of needing to raise to higher doses. The doctor at the pain clinic recommended the dose I am on now. It is considered a low dose. Has anyone had the experience of being on Klonopin and/or Xanex and gotten off this medication only to have the bladder get worse? I know there may be some temporary worsening. Lately I've been reading these things are not great to take for years yet I have done so because I suffer from both anxiety and IC. I have not abused the medication ever, but I have taken them daily since 1996. I would really like to know people's experiences who have gotten off them, how it effects the IC in the long run. I've been reading that long term use of these medications may effect the memory etc. and that concerns me. Anything anyone has to say is greatly appreciated.

I have used it for 7 years (lmg) at night and now use 1mg if needed for spasms during the day. I was using it all those years for restless leg syndrome and accidentally discovered that it helped my bladder during a bad flare. I try not to use it too often because I don't want to build up a tolerance to it.

I was given xanax (for anxiety) during my first major flare and discovered by accident that it helped my bladder. I find that when I'm flaring, it's my miracle drug and it can get me out of flares pretty quickly. Sometimes I'll need to take it daily... .25 mgs (1/2 a tablet) during the day or .5 mgs at night. Othertimes, I can go months without taking it.

I take 0.5 mg Klonopin (very low dose) once in the morning and once at night right now... I have done so for about a month now for generalized anxiety disorder. However, I'm now also on Zoloft for depression and anxiety (have been for almost 2 weeks), and my psychiatrist says that once the Zoloft kicks in I may be able to quit the daily Klonopin and use it only on an as needed basis.
