I was diagnosed with IC on Sept. 8, 2004. I have pain underneath my right rib cage and I get sick after every meal. I also have had chest pain and pain in my shoulder. My mom is a RN and she was talking to my uro at the hospital and my uro told my mom I needed to have my gall bladder checked out right away. My mom and I thought that maybe these symptoms were related to IC. However, the uro told my mom that these were not IC symptoms. I was wondering if anyone else that has IC also have had gall bladder problems? I can't believe this...I have IC and I could also have gall bladder disease. I'm only 19 years old. My body feels like it's 60 years old. I can't stand this because at my age I should be able to eat what I want. I take more pills than my grandparents that are in there late 60's. Chelsey

I have to agree that it does sound like it could be gall bladder. If it is, it's one of those things that can be resolved! Usually gall bladder disease is caused by stones and can be easily diagnosed by ultrasound.

And if it is gall bladder, it can usually be removed by laparoscopy. I can't even find my surgery scars from gall bladder surgery --- they are very tiny.

Warm hugs,
Donna

((hugs)) It is ok...if you need your Gall bladder removed you will recover and feel better. I so understand feeling 60 when you are 19....I feel about 120 and I am 27...when I was 19 I think I felt about 50, but than at 13 I felt 80...hopefully the time will come soon when I feel my own age...or younger!

I had a sonagram last Friday. I get my results back tomorrow (Monday). My Dad had gall bladder disease. His sonogram was perfectly noraml. They did a hydroscan and his gall bladder had no function at all. Hopefully they will be able to tell me something. I'm tired of having all this pain!!!! Chelsey

Chelsey, I hd my gall bladder removed 10 days ago. My rib cage was very sore and tender on the rigt side. It would also hurt at times after meals. Good luck.

Chelsey,

Yes, I had my gall bladder removed last year. I was glad to have it out, I felt much better after the initial surgery pain. Of course, I will admit I hit most of the profile (fair, female, over 40).

Good luck to you. It is hard to be ill and not feel good when you are so young. Keep us all posted. Hugs from Carla :cat:
