Disclaimer: As many of you know, I haven't been officially diagnosed with IC yet, but I'm aware that my doctor suspects it. Since I have most of the symptoms, I think I probably have it.
My question is: when you're you're in a flare, how long does it usually last? I've been flaring for the past three weeks, is that normal?
Let's assume that I have IC for the purpose of this question.

That is also very individual... it's different from person to person, and, in MY case, from flare to flare! Sometimes I flare for a few hours. Sometimes a few days. And occasionally, for a few weeks/months! It just depends on what's going on in my life (stress is a huge trigger), if I've been careful about diet, etc.
I'm sorry I can't give you a specific answer -- IC is just frustrating like that. :(
I hope your flare goes away soon! :grouphug:

Mine vary some last a day sometimes a week and I have had some weeks and even for awhile months Before diagnose. Since being diagnosed the length of a flare is better usually 1 to 3 days.

Don't forget, you haven't gotten treated yet. You might start getting more cyclical flares later that correspond to too much stress, hormones, food, etc. after you get the first major flare taken care of.

Mine last for months sometimes but also they can only last for a day or so so i think everytime is different.

Usually a few days before I got pregnant last September, and I hve been in a constant flare since then, ohhh I have a a few days hear and there where it was a mild flare, but this one seems to like me to much to go away. I guess maybe if I am flaring that is one flare that is leaving someone else alone LOL. No need for everyone to suffer.

Hi. Like everyone else has said. Each and every person's IC is so individualized and conditioned to a lot of outside factors like, stress, diet, and your own personal chemistry.
My flares too can last as little as a day or weeks or in my present case months at a time. It's easy to get down but I try to keep myself focused on happier times. :)

Used to be weeks, then days, then a day or so, now the last few flares have lasted only several hours & have responded to Ditropan. (The pattern seems to be getting better! Hope, hope, hope)

For me, a typical flare last 3 days, on average, with severe symptoms, tapering down day by day- after the first 3 days.
Of course, when I travel, the extra stress usually causes me to flare, too, for longer periods.
Flaring is so individual. Hope you don't have this. Hugs from Carla
I have heard that cornsilk tablets can help with pain. Has anyone tried these?

Since I have been untreated for so long I would have to say my flare lasted 38 years, and 3 months..

My flares usually last only a few hours. I've had some in the past that has lasted a few days. That was about a year ago. I hope your feeling better soon. Chelsey
