Hi all I have been reading how others are coping with their pain. One way that I cope is working in graphics. It will help me keep my mind off of the pain that I feel. I have noticed though when I am in a lot of pain I can see it reflected in my work. For instance, I took this picture:

And made this picture:

I hope that you all don't mind me posting this here. I guess to me that represents my pain. Total destruction.

Thanks for sharing!!! :) I liked them. The second definitely looks more "painful" and angst-ridden than the first and I enjoyed seeing how you express yourself!

Wow! Cool graphics and photo compilation. I'm guessing you're working in Photoshop??

Great way to express yourself and your IC pain. I, too, have my creative outlet to distract my mind from the pain and symptoms.

Take care, Hugs from Carla

PS: How were you able to insert the digital file?? Do tell!

Thanks for the compliments everyone :smile fai Yep you're right I am using Photoshop. First thing is resize the picture so the file isn't too big and upload to a photohosting website. File size needs to be smaller to be considerate of dial-up users. Also you don't want to hog up space on the IC Network server that is why it is best to upload to a photohosting website.

Click the picture to bring up the single picture, then right click to get url. Copy and paste the url link in the section of the website you are writing in using the html codes. It should look like this:
[ img] url goes here without spaces [/img]
Be sure there are no spaces in the linking codes or the url link. That's about all there is too it. Hope this helps others too:D

Thanks for explaining it.

OK, I'm Photoshop saavy, I can guess how you did parts of the photo compiliation, but would love to hear from you how you went about it. How many photos were you working with, for example? What tools do you use most often in Photoshop?

I'm a bit off topic here- but I agree, graphic work is a coping skill for IC :)

I really like your pic, and I hope I don't sound to phychy here but just as we feel we need to let emotions out in some way...and art is very good way....physical pain can be the same and in that way just as people are allowed to vent here on this board seeing pics like that is allowed because it helps you...and that is what we are here for. I hope you feel better soon....but I hope your creativity stays strong. XO

Fabulous! Makes perfect sense to me-the frustration and pain have to go somewhere!
(When I studied in Mexico, one of my favorite days was visiting the house of Frida Kahlo & learning about her severe & chronic pain from an accident & how she created art from it. It's not cheery stuff, wouldn't hang it on my living room, but find it worth looking at when struggling).

In that last one I have about 35 different layers. I was working with about 5 different pictures to get the look I wanted. I used mostly Dodge tool, eraser tool, some of that is just randomly selected from the original photos and pasted with the Gausian blur added. Different size brushes, Lighting effects, transparency for the reflection on the tower. Mostly just what looks good to me when I am doing these.
I am no expert in Photoshop basicly a lot of trial and error on my part. It does help distract me thou.
